Plea for a different democratic system

What would happen if we voted politicians out of office for not doing their job instead of electing them because of their promises? What would a system look like in which political parties and professional politicians play no part? In view of the general disenchantment with politics, Christophe Meierhans has put some thought into it. A lot of thought: Together with political scientists and constitutional experts, and based on the ancient tradition of ostracism, Meierhans has developed the complete constitution for an entirely different political system. In 350 articles, he drafts social structures that are founded on participation, rotation and political responsibility of every citizen. He explains this political system on stage and invites the audience to ask him questions. And his project provokes highly interesting questions about how our society functions and how we want to live. It opens playful innerscapes about the basic nature of representation, justice and political decision-making processes. An exciting declaration of war to a culture of ‘no- alternatives’!

Followed by a talk on 27.6 Christophe Meierhans interviews Charly Pache on his initiative on the election mode.
