Itsofomo

"Itsofomo" (In The Shadow of Forward Motion) , is a major multimedia collaboration between Ben Neill, composer and music curator at The Kitchen, New York, and the lote artist/writer and activist David Wojnarowicz, who died of AIDS in 1992. It is a piece that confronts the politics of AIDS in the U.S and stands at the centre of the debate about politicised art.

"Itsofomo" combines voice, video, computer, tape, electronics, orchestral percussion and Ben Neill's "mutantrumpet". It is a piece thot has been methodically composed to articulate the themes of acceleration-sensual, viral, political.

Ben Neill has received international recognition as a composer, performer and inventor of the mutantrumpet, a unique electro-acoustic instrument with three bells, a slide and interactive computer electronics. He is one of the first composers to be associated with the new musical movement Totalism, which focuses on new methods of integrating musical elements never before brought together.

David Wojnarowicz lived and worked in New York City as an artist and writer. His work encompassed a broad range of media, including painting, sculpture, photography, film, video, prose and plays. In his life and in his art, David Wojnarowicz dared to defy conventional wisdom and challenged others to do so as well.

Don Yallech is active as a performer in a wide range of musical styles. He has performed with the Armitage BALLET, John Cage and the NEW MUSIC CONSORT. He is currently writing and performing with a new band called Feed, and developing new solo pieces for percussion and interactive electronics.
