"The left Hand Should Know" is the first video work to be produced by Breda Beban and Hrvoje Horvalic since leaving their native Yugoslavia in 1991. Out of their personal experience of dislocation, Beban and Horvatic have fashioned a deeply evocative, introspective work whose ironie power and poetic intensity vies with Viola's "The Passing" as one of the most striking recent incarnations of video art's visionary aesthetic. like Viola, Beban and Horvalic are drawn to elemental themes: the passing of lime, the power of memory and, above all, the profound imprint of physical nature on the inner world of our thoughts.
